"Thou shall not covet," God tells us, through Moses, in Exodus 20:17. Coveting means "wanting something to the point of an unhealthy desire." That commandment is the 10th commandment in the Ten Commandments.
A few days ago, I was making my 'Christmas Wish List.' I started listing all the things that I wanted for Christmas, both big and small. I listed things like: books, candy, movies, a trampoline, and so on. But, this was kind of hard. Ever since November 1st, I had been surrounded by T.V. ads, computer notices, and store posters all screaming the same thing: BUY, BUY, BUY! WANT, WANT, WANT! The world was practically begging me to covet!Whatever should I do!
Well, I stood on my head, rubbed my stomach, and repeated, "Thou shall not covet. Thou shall not covet." I'm just kidding! Not coveting is hard. Everyone deals with it at sometime or another. the Lord is there for me, though. He will help me. Here are a couple of things I've been doing to stop coveting:

- I am trying to focus on what I do have, rather than what I don't have. The Lord has blessed me and abundantly provided for me.
- I pray to Him. I ask God to help me focus on Him and His provision and not be greedy.
