Yes, it's the Christmas pageant time of year once again. Time for carols and shepherds. Santa and mangers. Wise men and the North Pole. That is exactly what I'm going to tonight (a Christmas pageant, not the North Pole). A preschool Christmas pageant, to be exact. Christmas pageants are all different. Some are about Santa, some are about the Nativity Story. I love both! While we're talking about the Nativity Story, I thought I might share some interesting facts about it.
- Did you know that "three wise men" were never mentioned in the Bible? Yes, wise men were mentioned, but no where does it say that there were 3 of them.
- Did you know that the "stable" that Mary gave birth to Jesus in, wasn't really a stable at all? It was more like a cold, dark cave for the animals. It wasn't very warm and cozy.
- Did you know that a manger is an animal's feeding trough?
- Did you know that Jesus wasn't called 'Jesus' for 8 days, until after he had been circumcised?
- Did you know that Joseph was going to divorce Mary when he found out she was pregnant? An angel spoke to Joseph, though, and told him that the Holy Spirit had made Mary pregnant and that he was to take Mary as his wife.
