Howdy, folks. Some of you (hopefully all of you) may have noticed something different about my blog. No, I didn't change the name. Nope, not my profile picture. I didn't add more books to my "Favourite Books" categories on my profile. Have you figured it out? Yep, I completely changed Jaquelle's Rose Garden's look. That got me thinking . . .
Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." No, I'm not saying that my blog has just found Christ; I hope it has been radiating Christ from the beginning. What I'm saying is this: before we find Christ we are filthy, yucky, gross, smelly in our sin; God can't stand us. Then, when we find Christ, God cleans our filth away and puts shiny, clean clothes on us. It's kind of like a caterpillar's transformation.
When a caterpillar is first born, it is a fuzzy, tiny, slug-like creature. You may remember flicking a few off your patio furniture in the summer. As the caterpillar grows, there seems like there's no hope for him. He just gets bigger and uglier. Then, one day he climbs into his cocoon. He stays there for a while and his friends wait expectantly. One day, the cocoon looks like it's going to open up. All his friends gather around, waiting for the ugly caterpillar to come out. Suddenly, the cocoon breaks and out comes a beautiful butterfly. The friends stare in confusion. Where is their friend? They saw him go in; why didn't he come out? Then, a familiar voice says, "Hi guys!" It's the caterpillar, at least it was. The ugly, fat caterpillar is a beautiful butterfly. He's been . . . transformed.
God transforms us because He loves us very much. He wants to turn us all into beautiful butterflies. We need to place our life in His hands. God created us. He is our potter we are His clay. (Isaiah 64:8) God wants to mold us and make us. In the words of Keith Green . . .
