Daddy's Daughter: A Short Summary of My Dad's Sermon

The 3 R's of Easter: Reconciliation

It started 3400 years ago during the Day of Atonement when we had to be reconciled with God. Rams and lambs had to be sacrificed in those days to make the atonement for our sins. If you go 1500 years later you come to a time when prophets had rose up and were making the way for the Messiah. When John the Baptist was baptizing by the water one day, Jesus came by. John proclaimed, "Behold! The Lamb of God!" Jesus was unlike the sacrificial lamb, though, because:
  • He gave Himself us willingly. The sacrificial animals back in Bible times had no choice whether they would live or not.
In Hebrews 4:14 we read, "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession." Jesus was unlike the high priest who came before God too, though because:
  • Jesus died. The high priest who came before God did not have to die.
Jesus came to save us. We had a problem and Jesus solved that problem by His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension into heaven.
