Daddy's Daughter: A Short Summary of My Dad's Sermon

In or Out God Gets the Glory
Judges 5:1-31

In chapter five of Judges, we read of Deborah's song. You're probably wondering what song and why it's written, right? The song is about Judges chapter four. Do you remember last week? About Deborah, Barak, Jael and Sisera? Well, this is what the song is about. Now, the song was written to:

  • Inform us religiously, socially, and politically of things that were happening in chapter four that we would not have known otherwise.
  • Inspire us to be courageous and faithful like Deborah and Jael and Barak.
  • Celebrate the Lord's victory. For in the end of chapter four, when the Israelites conquered their enemies, the glory went to the Lord. No matter what anyone did, in or out, God did, and always will, get the glory.
