My Top Five Favourite Things I Like to Do With My Family

My family's pretty great. And I'm not just saying that to butter them up since my birthday's in three days. They're all really crazy and caring, which makes them really fun to hang out with. So, here's my top five favourite things to do with my a little strange, but totally awesome family.

5. Jumping on the trampoline with my brother, Travis. You'd be surprised by some of the weird games we make up!

4. Eating supper every night with my family. There's the occasional night that Dad or Mom has a meeting or appointment, but most every night, we all have supper together. Did you know that 42% of kids in general don't eat dinner with their families? Did you also know that kids who eat meals regularly with their families are less at risk for getting into drugs and alcohol? Another reason I love to eat dinner with my family is that we get to talk about our day and see how each other is doing.

3. Going to the beach. Last night, at the spur of the moment, Dad asked us if we wanted to go to the beach. Travis and I eagerly said yes, threw on our bathing suits, grabbed a couple of towels, and drove the five minutes to the beach. Dad swam with Travis and I for about half an hour to forty-five minutes, then sat with Mom and talked. The beach is a beautiful place, a testimony to God's strength and power.

2. Watching baseball. This newfound hobby was started by Mom when she curled in one night and flicked on a baseball game. I soon joined her and now Dad and Travis have been watching some games with us. Baseball is comforting and a great way to relax at the end of the day.

1. Family devotion and prayer times. Of the seven days a week, on Sunday we discuss the morning's sermon, on Monday, Travis leads, on Tuesday, Dad leads, on Wednesdays, we have prayer time, on Thursday, I lead, on Friday, we read a Psalm, and on Saturday, Mom leads. Devotions is a time of sharing our struggles and prayer requests with one another and encouraging and building each another up.
