Today's post isn't Christmas ... per se. You see, the message my dad preached on Mark 1:39-49 today, called Living on Purpose, was about Jesus healing, praying and preaching during His earthly ministry. But though the message wasn't focused on Christmas, my dad did speak about it.
The point of the message was purpose. Jesus healed, prayed, and preached all for one purpose. That purpose was the same as His birth -- the whole reason we celebrate Christmas. Jesus was born, He preached, He healed, He exercised His authority so that He might save us from our sins (Matthew 1:21).
So as the Christmas season comes closer, let's think about our purpose. Why do we put up a Christmas tree? Why do we buy gifts? Your answers should reveal your true purpose. And though it's hard to ask these questions, we must, so that we show ourselves the reason we're celebrating the season.
