Growing in Grace - July 2011

I'm aiming to do a "Growing in Grace" about once or twice a month at this point. We'll see how it goes, though. For now, enjoy some good summer reading through these links below!

Something Good Theology - "As a young girl, I particularly enjoyed watching Captain Von Trapp and Sister Maria discover their love for each other and thinking, “Wow! How romantic!” ... When I first heard those words they made sense to me. Yes, of course, “nothing comes from nothing, nothing ever could.” So, I reasoned, if I could just be good enough, earn enough Brownie points, get my act together, and do “something good,” then people like Christopher Plummer would certainly sing to me in moonlit gazebos in Austria. Right?"

The Addiction of Noise - This is an interesting article on our society's addiction to technology and noise.

It's Now or Never: Love Your Enemies - A very good point by John Piper on recognizing that this life here on earth will be our only chance to love our enemies. It's now or never.

Countries With the Most Expensive Private Schools - Okay. I know this link is useless, but these are crazy! What parent in their right mind sends their kids to a school that costs this much? They could buy their kids a house for the price to send them to these private schools. But the pictures are pretty cool.

Give Me a Quiet Mind - Mary Kassian points out what having a quiet mind is and shares a beautiful poem by Amy Carmichael.

A Letter to an Incomplete, Insecure Teenager - "Four years ago a teenager in our church wrote to me for advice about life in general, and identity in particular. Here is what I wrote ..."

A Meal We Don't Want to Skip - a reflection from the girltalkers on food for the soul

How to Share Your Testimony So That Others Think GOD is Awesome ... Not You - a great article for any Christian who has written or is considering writing or is updating their testimony.
