Christmas Countdown: 1 Day Until Christmas

Well here we are. Saturday, December 24th, just one day before Christmas. As I was picking out a dress to wear to my church's Christmas Day Service tomorrow, a thought struck me. I wonder how many people won't go to church tomorrow because it's Christmas. And I wonder how many churches will cancel their services. A strange thought, I must admit. But it's woefully true. Many, many Christians will not attend church because it will get in the way of their traditions. Their presents. Their turkeys. How sad. On this day when we celebrate Christ's birth, worshiping with Christ's church is neglected because we get too concerned about our ourselves. I admit, I've found myself at times disappointed because Christmas Day was on a Sunday this year. But I've repented because that's so wrong! Christmas Day being on a Sunday is not a bad thing, but a wonderful blessing! How often do we get to celebrate the Lord's birth with His people on a Christmas morning? The problem is that we're losing focus of Christ. Our focus is slowly but surely slipping to ourselves, our wants, and our desires. As we celebrate this Christmas, let's rejoice in Christ and celebrate with His people on Sunday morning that our Messiah has indeed come. For He is why and what we celebrate at Christmas.
