Growing in Grace: August 2012

Here is a roundup of some edifying links from the month:

  • No Sacrifice is Too Great - "John and Betty Stam served with China Inland Missions in the 1930’s. In December of 1934 they fell into the hands of Communist insurgents and were soon executed, dying as missionary martyrs. A short time after they were put to death, John’s father wrote this beautiful letter in which he so powerful expressed both joy and grief, declaring that there is no sacrifice too great to make for the One who gave all he had for us."
  • Don't Let Discouragement Choke You - We all tend to get discouraged. Jon Bloom at the Desiring God blog recognizes this and wrote this wonderful post to give us some advice.
  • What If We Made Your Browsing History Public? "The inescapable truth is that what we do online doesn't stay online. It is who we are."
  • Life is Cheap in Norway - A look by John Piper at Anders Breivik, justice and C.S. Lewis.
  • "I Can't" is Relative - "What “I can’t!” are you dealing with today? Overwhelming bills? A painfully broken relationship? That frightening lab report? Another lonely move? The apostle Paul knew how to deal with the “I can’t!”s of life, the overwhelming burdens of “any and every circumstance” (Phil. 4:12). He looked to Jesus. He saw Christ as his helper, his friend, his Savior. "
