Today is Thanksgiving here in Canada and, as has become a tradition here, I have composed a list of things I am thankful to the Lord for. For this day (and every day) is truly a day to give thanks to the One who deserves it.
I am thankful to the Lord for blessing me with ...
His love, and how it never lets me go
His forgiveness and the cleansing of my sins
His Son, and the salvation He accomplished on the cross
a turkey in the oven
a warm house to keep out the October cold
good books
edifying music
the resources and grace to live at home while I pursue my undergraduate degree
His protection on the roads as I drive
His compassion and how it convicts and compels me to love people more
a dad who shepherds both his church and his family well, teaches me about worship and the pursuit of holiness every day, memorizes Scripture with me and shows me what a godly man is
a mom who loves me and buys me books on literary terms and studies with me and teaches me and cooks with me and drives with me and shows me what a godly woman is
a brother who bugs me and loves me and plays epic backyard Nerf battles with me and serves my family and makes up the silliest songs you've ever heard with the silliest dance moves and shows me what a godly young man is
grandparents who patiently guide me in godliness by word and deed and love me unconditionally
friends who I can email with and talk deeply with and overuse emoticons with and be both silly and serious with
neighbourhood cats who stalk our back porch
a vacation to go on in November
His Word and how it speaks to me and teaches me and directs me
a church family who loves God and loves each other and shows me what true community is
the freedom to worship and proclaim the gospel of Christ in an unrestricted country
the ability and platform to write about Him
every good gift He gives me
What are you thankful for?
