Poddition.co.uk:
A UK FIRST Suffolk Glamping business West Stow Pods are delighted to announce that planning permission has been granted for the development of the first habitable “Poddit” Hole to be constructed in the UK.
West Stow Pods is an established Suffolk Glamping company and TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner. Developed by Ed Lengyel and husband Jan they offer cosy en-suite Glamping Megapods with BBQ for holidays in their secluded woodland setting.
“This is an exciting opportunity to enhance our existing Megapod retreats and create an enchanting Hobbit Hole, built into a grassy mound in the woodland glade here at West Stow, using natural building materials, we intend to recapture the magic of Tolkien for visitors to enjoy,” [said] Jan Lengyel
Fans of J.R.R. Tolkien will love this unique opportunity to stay in the West Stow Pods middle earth inspired Poddit Hole holiday accommodation in the Suffolk countryside.
The holiday hole will accommodate four – five with a cosy ‘Victorian styled interior’ to include a log burner, 2 double bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. The exterior will be snugly built into a grassy bank, have a round yellow door and enchanting window following detailed drawings and descriptions from J.R.R. Tolkien‘s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit books.
Work will start later this year under the close supervision of Tolkien Society member Alan Baxter to ensure authenticity.
“Historic West Stow is the perfect location for a Hobbit Hole to be reconstructed. Tolkien’s own inspiration – the original ‘Middangearth’ or ‘Middle Earth’ of the Anglo-Saxons can be explored at the Anglo-Saxon Village at West Stow Country Park.”
West Stow, England’s oldest village, home to a reconstruction of the original Anglo-Saxon settlement on its original site, offers further Middle-earth adventures.
“It certainly engages interest across generations and brings a new dimension to local schools - ‘Book Week' with plans for educational creative workshops. Middle Earth Tours of both sites can also be provided along with other activities like archery.”
Owners Ed and Jan Lengyel are seeking crowd funding via Kickstarter to support this exciting development.
