While I no longer work retail (as of last Monday), I do have a few tips for all of you who are about to brave the stores this sunny Black Friday.
1. Pray for patience right now. Don't get out of the house without doing it.
2. You do not need (in its most literal sense) anything.
3. Be a Christian witness. Be selfless. Be kind. Be the anti-Black-Friday-shopper.
4. Have compassion on the cashier.
5. Don't overbuy, overspend, or overindulge.
6. Smile at people. A lot. It will probably scare them at first, but then they will feel happier - and so will you.
7. Don't be in a hurry. Be able to take your time and don't fall into the frenzied trap of getting to every deal first.
8. Keep first things first. Chances are, a lot of the stuff you'll buy (or would buy) is not going to last forever. So don't act like it will.
9. People are more important than products. Whatever you do, remember that.
