Growing in Grace: (A Little Late) February 2016 Edition

I'm two days late. Psh. It's not the end of the world, is it? Life happens. February was too short. There are extra links! Read and be edified.

Theological Study Is for Everyone - "Every Christian must be a theologian. In a variety of ways, this is something I tell my church often."

3 Pitfalls to Avoid When Dating - Here's a guest post on Kevin DeYoung's blog with three detrimental actions in a Christian (romantic) relationship.

15 Martin Luther Quotes That Still Ring True - February 18th was the 470th anniversary of Martin Luther's death and these are some of his most excellent quotes.

Are Millennials Addicted to Convenience? - Did you hear about the Washington Post article about millennials and cereal? Even if you haven't, this response is an interesting reflection on young people and convenience.

Why This Election Makes Me Hate the Word "Evangelical" - Speaking of the Washington Post, you should check out Russell Moore's op-ed piece on the American election, Trump, and evangelicalism.

The Babylon Bee - You probably know that I share comics from Christian artist Adam4d from time to time. Well, he's branched out now and started his own Christian satire website, in the same vein as The Onion or SportsPickle. It's pretty funny.

Earth, Heaven, and Harper Lee (1926-2016) - To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my very favorite novels and like every other Mockingbird lover, I was saddened to hear of Harper Lee's death. Betsy Childs Howard writes about her at The Gospel Coalition. "In writing about religion, Lee’s strength was bringing out the earthly implications of heavenly belief."

Six Things Submission is Not - Dad preached on 1 Peter 3:1-5 on Sunday and referenced this great article by John Piper. It really is good.

Facing a Task Unfinished - The Gettys have a new song! "First penned by China Inland Mission worker, Frank Houghton, at a time when persecution in China was at its height, 'Facing a Task Unfinished' has been a rally cry for missions in the Pacific Rim for many years. In 1929, the Lord laid a vision on the heart of CIM leaders to see 200 new workers plunge into the darkness and share the light of Christ, knowing that it could well cost them their lives."

Moving Mountains - This is a good review of a bad book.

27 Books Christian Teens Should Read (And Grownups Too) - No, I don't agree with every single book on this list, but I think it's a pretty great start. You do have to put your email address in but I can vouch for the greatness of being on this email list (though I may be biased since I'm the editor-in-chief of the website ....). You can also unsubscribe if you're not cool with it.

The Bible Project Videos - Lately I've been edified a great deal by The Bible Project videos. These are videos that give creative, compelling, short, and beautiful overviews of books of the Bible. Check 'em out.
