My Favorite Christmas Albums

T'is the season for tinsel, trees, and lots and lots of Christmas music. It's hard to get away from it, really - the music, that is. Since we're all listening to it anyway, I thought I would share some of my favorite holiday albums.

Joy: An Irish Christmas (Keith and Kristyn Getty) - Celebratory, folksy, and absolutely delightful, I love this album. My favorite song is probably "How Suddenly a Baby Cries."

Light Came Down (Josh Garrels) - This album just came out a few weeks ago, and it has already become a favorite. Josh Garrels has such a unique, compelling style, and he brings his own spin to several Christmas classics, as well as a few new ones. My favorite song is definitely "Gloria."

Prepare Him Room (Sovereign Grace Music) - I love every song on this album so much. You won't find many traditional Christmas carols on it, but you will find new, beautiful, doxological, theological gems. My favorites are "Who Would Have Dreamed?"; "He Who is Mighty"; and "Joy to the World (Our God Reigns)."

Elf: The Musical (Various Artists) - This is the soundtrack to the fun, silly musical 'Elf.' It's a light-hearted, merry listen. Favorites include "The Story of Buddy the Elf" and "Sparklejollytwinklejingly."

Christmas (Ella Fitzgerald) - A classic, man, a classic. Every time I hear "Winter Wonderland" it feels like Christmas.

White Christmas (Bing Crosby) - This had to be on here. It had to be. My favorite song is obviously "White Christmas." I could listen to this guy sing forever.

The Family Force 5 Christmas Pageant (Family Force 5) - This is the album of my early teenhood. It came out when I was 12, and I listened to it non-stop for a year or two (and I mean all-year round, not just Christmas). It's so fun. "Carol of the Bells" is my favorite track.

A Very RELEVANT Christmas, Vol. 5 (Various Artists) - RELEVANT currently has six Christmas albums released, but this one is my favorite - so many beautiful songs. Citizens and Saints' "Come and Stand Amazed" continues to rock my socks off.
