Daddy's Daughter: A Short Summary of My Dad's Sermon

Welcome to another Sunday here at Jaquelle's Rose Garden. Today my dad preached a sermon on Acts 10-11. He focused on Peter's vision and his call to witness to Cornelius. (That's kind of a funny name, don't you think?)

Cornelius was a centurion in the Italian Regiment. He had a good reputation and was a good man all around. But, he needed the Lord just as much as you and me do. He could of been the kindest man in the world, but he still needed Jesus. Cornelius often prayed to God, but he wasn't saved. So, the Lord sent him a vision. The Lord told him to send men to Joppa to get Peter. With that, the vision ended. While all this was happening, in Joppa, Peter had received a vision from the Lord, too. Peter was told that he should love the Gentiles just as much as the Jews. Peter needed an attitude-adjustment. He was a Jew, God's chosen race. There was no way he was going to witness and hang out with Gentiles. God thought otherwise because instead of letting Peter sit around and think about it, He tested him right away. As soon as the vision was over 6 men arrived looking for Peter. Peter went with them and was taken to Cornelius' home (did I mention that Cornelius was a Gentile?) Peter spoke with Cornelius and all his friends and family about Jesus. He shared the gospel with them and they all beleived.

We should be like that. Like what, you ask? Thanks for asking. We need to not just hear God and sit around thinking about His Word, we need to take action, like Peter. We need to witness to every person no matter what their size, shape, colour, body odour, or beliefs are. God loves all people, and we need to, too.
