Welcome back to the second and final part of my testimony. I hope you enjoy it and will be blessed. Remember that I left off with "My parents sat my brother and I down and asked us what we thought of moving to Texas."
Imagine how I felt after that. I was kind of in shock. My dad explained that he wanted to get a better Christian education, so that he could have a better ministry. We knew someone that had gotten a great Christian education at South Western Baptist Theological Seminary in Texas (SWBTS). I was starting to get excited. Part of me didn't want to leave my friends and the church, but another part of me wanted to go on the adventure. My parents weren't sure that we were being called to Texas for sure, so we decided to look at some other seminaries. My parents looked, but the more we looked, the more we felt called to Texas. God soon confirmed the call by selling our house in a month and a half (when later the owner tried to sell, but couldn't). 2 and an half months after my parents announcement we were on our way to Texas. We drove all the way across the Western side of America. We arrived on January 1, 2007. We had begun a new year in a new country. Living in Texas was a big adjustment. My dad was going to do a 3-year degree (MDiv) in 2 years and a quarter. He had classes most days of the week. It took a while to get used to. It wasn't that we didn't get to see him, it was just that he was really busy. In Texas there is a running joke that you can spit in any direction and hit a Baptist church. It's almost true. We lived in a big city called Fort Worth. There were hundreds of baptist churches there. After looking at 4 or 5 we were led to stay at Wedgwood Baptist Church. I went into the 4th Grade Sunday School Class. I had some trouble with the class. After a couple of months at the church, we started feeling that maybe Wedgwood wasn't where God wanted us. We tried a church that one of my dad's professors pastored and ended up staying there for a couple of months. We soon realized that Wedgwood was where God wanted us. By then, I was half way through 5th Grade. My new Sunday School class was wonderful. I was challenged and became close friends with the teacher's daughter. I participated in a great program when I was in 5th and 6th Grade called L.I.T.'s. It stands for Leaders in Training. It was a ministry to train these fifth and sixth graders to witness and share the gospel with other kids. Each L.I.T. could pick a group to join. There was Praise and Worship Team, Splat Art Team, Commotion Action Team, Drama Team, Puppets Team and some others. The L.I.T.'s would put on concerts at schools and give a devotion. The kids did everything. We had kids who did the lights and power-point. We had kids who did the devotion. Even kids spoke to the kids who responded to the gospel invitation. It was a great program. In May of 2009 my dad graduated seminary from SWBTS. We began our move to Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 16. God had led my dad to have a strong desire to preach the Gospel to Canada. We all felt a calling to the Atlantic Maritimes. We were moving to Halifax so my dad could pastor Gospel Light Baptist Church. God provided us with a house. Today I do my own Bible reading and I love God and His family (the church). I thank God for all that He has done for me and my family.
