Welcome, readers. I want to start off by apologizing for not posting yesterday. It was my birthday, and I was very busy. Aahhh, with that off my chest, let's look at our subject for today- testimonies. Last Sunday in church, my dad encouraged everyone to write out their testimony and give or send it to him. Today I'm going to do that, not just because my dad said to (even though I wouldn't be doing this if he didn't mention it), but because I think that your testimony is something very important. You may think that your testimony is boring, but anyone that was once in the darkness and now is in the light has a story worth telling.
I was born into a Christian home on August 27, 1997. I participated in family devotions as early as I can remember. My parents took me to church and read me God's word, but it wasn't until I was 4 years old that I realized that I was a sinner and that I needed God. My parents clearly remember witnessing my saying the prayer accepting Jesus into my heart. I was living in Vancouver, British Columbia at the time. About a year after my conversion our family moved to a small town in northern B.C. that received snow 8 months a year. My dad worked at a Christian youth center. When I was 7 years old, I started a program at the youth center for younger kids. It was ball hockey. I loved ball hockey. At each practice and every game we would have a devotion. My dad led it. I thought that he had the coolest job ever, coaching Pee Wee ball hockey. A while later, though, my dad got called into ministry at the First Baptist Church of our town. My dad worked as associate pastor. This was a whole new level for me, seeing my dad stand up and preach on occasional Sundays. Seeing my dad help run the church. When I turned 9, I completely understood Jesus' death for us and His resurrection. I understood that He came to save us. I was baptized by my dad. I can clearly remember grinning as the whole church watched as I declared my faith in Jesus. My life was going great. I was in fourth grade when a wrench was thrown into my perfect life. The church was having problems. Pretty soon there was going to be a split. At the time I didn't even know this was happening. One night something that changed my life forever happened. My parents sat me down and asked us what we thought of moving to Texas, so my dad could attend seminary.
That is where we are going to stop for today. I'm stopping with a cliff-hanging spot. I will finish tomorrow. This is just the first 9 years of my life. Tomorrow, as I go through the next 3 years of my Christian life, I hope that you see a difference in my walk with Christ. Finally, I would like to encourage you to write out your testimony. I'd love to hear from you.
