What Are You Thankful For?
(James 1:16-18)
(James 1:16-18)
God is good. He's not gooder or goodest, He's just good. In this passage, Pastor James tells us about a great Giver. This Giver gives us wonderful gifts. He is the Giver of the Perfect Gift-Jesus Christ. I'm talking about God.
God also gives us life. That is called 'regeneration.' A good example of regeneration is this: A man is lying in a 30 foot deep hole. He is dead. He's a corpse, there's no life still in him. Then God sends Jesus into the pit. Jesus breathes life into us and resurrects us.
Finally, God does not change. The time changes, the seasons change, the tide changes, we change, but God does not change. He is immutable.
So what? What is the application?: Do not be deceived. Do not listen to the lies of the world around you. Everyone is trying to tell us that God does change, but James makes it very clear that God does not change. We need to focus on the truth. We need to focus on our Eternal Hope. We need to be thankful for the gifts that God gives us.
