Fighting in the Church: Above the Law-Part 3
James 4:11-12
James 4:11-12
"Don't criticize one another, brothers. He who criticizes a brother or judges his brother criticizes the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is one lawgiver and judge who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?"
People have been speaking evil against one another since the beginning of time. What is this "speaking evil" that James talks about? It can be anything that you or I say that could hurt someone, such as: judging, gossiping, slandering, grumbling, complaining, lying to one another. Jesus says in John 13:34, "I give you a new commandment: love one another." If we are lying to one another, gossiping against one another, or even complaining to or about someone, we are saying that we don't have to listen to the Bible. We are saying that we are above the law (the Bible) and the law giver (God). We must not judge others.
