The 3 R's of Easter: Rejoicing
John 20:1-29
John 20:1-29
Happy Easter, readers! Resurrection Sunday is here at last. My dad has raised some very interesting points over his past 3 messages. He started on Palm Sunday and taught us that Jesus reconciled us with God. Then, on Good Friday he pointed out that Christ redeemed us when He took our sins upon Himself on the cross. This morning, he focused on rejoicing over the empty tomb.
You see, if Jesus had stayed in that tomb, there would be no Easter. There would be no need to come to church. No need to pray. No need to read our Bibles every day. There would be no point in worshiping a dead man. But Jesus didn't stay dead! He rose from the grave and conquered death.
In the fine and accurate words of Bill Gaither, it's
"Because He lives I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future and life is worth the living just because He lives."
