Vow of Silence

I recently became aware of this campaign going on, called The Vow of Silence. On November 19th, youth all over the world are taking the vow of silence, which means either not uttering a sound for 24 hours, and/or remaining silent on the social network for that time. The campaign is to raise awareness for children burdened with poverty and exploitation whose voices are not being heard. The campaign is a part of Free the Children, an organization trying to spread awareness about this issue. A friend of mine is even going to be downtown on Friday with a group she's in, kicking off her and others' vows by walking in front of the library holding signs that say things like "I am silent;" "Silence is golden." I won't be able to participate in this campaign myself because of a previous engagement, but I wanted to spread awareness to you, and if you feel so led, would encourage you to take this vow yourself.

If you'd like to learn more about the campaign, you can check out the website at www.iamsilent.com. Also, if you do decide to take this vow, make sure to register online, so that your voice, or lack thereof, can be added to the multitude.
