RECAP: My Top 10 Things in 2010

10) The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics in February. Even though I couldn't be there, I loved watching it on TV and seeing Canada proudly break the record for gold medals!

9) New Year's. It's not every day you get to ring in the New Year with a wedding, a square dance and fireworks ... well, maybe the fireworks, but not the square dance! What a blast we had when my dad married a couple at our church's daughter and her fiance on New Year's Eve. And it was certainly an experience to square dance. I don't think this is a New Year's I'll likely forget!

8) Making new friends. Whether it's through new people coming to our church, joining an all-homeschoolers acting group, or befriending those I didn't think I would, I've made many new friends this year. All have helped me grow as a godly young woman! Thanks you guys!

7) Volunteer work. This year I have been very blessed to work as a volunteer reading tutor at our library. I was so excited to be able to be a witness and a beacon of God's love to the little girl I tutor. Also, though some Fridays are harder than others, I've been blessed to help at our church's Kids Club. Many of the kids are not saved, so Kids Club is their only chance to hear about God.

6) Saddle Ridge Ranch, my church's summer VBS. What a blast we had, sharing the message of salvation with kids through that week in July. I did it specifically through song, others did it through snacks, games, crafts, and Bible study. All in all, it was a great witness to our community and to others!

5) Christmas. This Christmas was so great! Not just because of the presents I got, but more because of all the fun and love that surrounded the celebration of our Saviour's birth.

4) Traveling. This year I explored Bermuda, Prince Edward Island and the Bay of Fundy all for the first time. I absolutely love to travel, and it was a joy and a blessing seeing so many new places!

3) Homeschooling. Though not every day is perfect, homeschooling this year is definitely one of my top ten things in 2010! My mom is the best teacher I've ever had, though I've had some good teachers before. Thank you Mom for making this year a fun, learning experience!

2) Reading. This year I read too many fantastic books even to count! I don't know how anyone doesn't like reading. It's a great way to learn!

1) Spending time in prayer and God's Word. This year I started a Bible reading plan in September and am almost half way through it. If you're not on a Bible reading plan, are thinking of starting one, or have just finished one, I'd encourage you to check out here.

So, it's time to bid farewell to the year 2010 and welcome in 2011 with open arms. Happy New Year!
