Yesterday, as I read my devotions, a couple of verses stuck out boldly to me: 1 John 5:4-5. Be encouraged and blessed, as I was by reading them!
I'm reminded of that old hymn, "Faith is the Victory," by John H. Yates and Ira D. Sankey. The chorus is taken directly from 1 John 5:4 and shows us exactly how to overcome the world - by having faith in Christ Jesus and, thus, overcoming the world!
"For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?" 1 John 5:4-5So today (or tomorrow, or the next day), when the world looms before you, ready to overcome you, have strength, and, more importantly, have faith! Jesus Christ has already overcome the world "by making peace through the blood of his cross" (Colossians 1:20), and it is through Him that we can overcome the world.

"Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory! O glorious victory that overcomes the world."Yes, Mr. Yates, you're right. Faith is indeed the victory, the victory that overcomes the world!
