Growing in Grace - August 2011

Well, I hate to say it, but summer's almost over. The cottages are being locked up for another year. The flip-flops and shorts are being packed away. The barbecues are being covered, and the trees are starting to turn from their summery green to muted golds and fiery reds. So as we bid farewell to our fast-fading summer, here's some good reading to enjoy before September arrives.

Nothing Gets Past Him - A good reflection by Kimberly Wagner on the True Woman blog.

A Soul-Satisfying Summer - "A word from John Piper - "Don't let summer make your soul shrivel.""

Louisiana Baptists Send Hay to Drought-Weary Texas Farmers - "Donated bales of hay are making their way from southeastern Louisiana to drought-stricken Texas."

37 Ways to Love One Another - "The Christian life is all about relationships. It’s God’s design for our personal growth, which then translates into church growth—the real kind. Loving one another is a powerful evangelistic tool, as Jesus says: “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35)."

Earth: Landscapes That Will Blow Your Mind - These are absolutely INCREDIBLE!

Judas Was the Treasurer? - "Has it ever struck you as odd that Jesus put a thief in charge of his moneybag? Of all the disciples, Jesus chose Judas to be treasurer of his itinerant nonprofit. One is tempted to offer the Lord some consulting on good stewardship. Donors were financially supporting this ministry (Luke 8:3) and the one guy who Jesus knew was a “devil” (John 6:70) was made CFO."

An Opal Ring and a Piping Bullfinch - A really neat story about Charles Spurgeon and his invalid wife!
