It seems like just yesterday we were hauling out the plastic totes of summer clothes and now we're packing them all away. It seems like just yesterday I was writing my last exam and exulting in new-found freedom and now I'm buried in school work. It seems like just yesterday I was waiting for the last green leaf to bloom on the trees and now the leaves are changing colour and falling fast. I can't believe it's October already! It seems like just yesterday it was June ...
I knew time would fly, but this fast? I don't think I was prepared for this unexpected speed. I suppose it's just another reminder that our lives are indeed but "a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes." Or as another translation says, "a wisp of smoke," like a wisp of smoke that slips out of an autumn fire crackling in the fireplace and out through the chimney into the crisp air to vanish unnoticed.
Yes, as October arrives and will no doubt fly as fast the summer, let's remember that time does fly (apparently whether you're having fun or not) and our lives are but a fading mist. So let's seek to live our lives to the fullest, making the most of the time! (Colossians 4:6)
