Turning the Pages: Reading & Recently Read

Finally Alive by John Piper - What does it mean to be "born again"? What is regeneration? What is this new birth? These are the questions Piper tackles in his book, Finally Alive. In typical Piper fashion, he takes readers on a vivid journey through biblical text to discover what Scripture says about this difficult and oft-misunderstood topic.

The Heroic Boldness of Martin Luther by Steven J. Lawson - I finished this book while I was on vacation and found it to be excellent. This is another book in Lawson's Long Line of Godly Men Profile series, and here, Lawson focuses more on Luther's academia and preaching. It's a different angle of Martin Luther I hadn't studied before and so I found it refreshing, powerful and absolutely encouraging.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens - Yes, it's almost Christmas time again - which means it's time to read Christmas books, including my annual re-read of the classic A Christmas Carol! Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, the Christmas spirits, joy, discontent, gratitude - all part of this magnificent, familiar tale!

Help for Women Under Stress by Randy and Nanci Alcorn - Overwhelmingly practical, this is a book I picked up free for my Kindle, and I'm glad I did! Diagnosing the reasons for stress and drawing conclusions and answers from the Bible is what the Alcorns do so well. From calling sin sin to exhortations to choose joy, if you're a woman under stress, this is great help!
