I had never written a blog post
in my life before 2009. I knew I loved to write stories, but that was about it. As our family prepared to
move from Texas to Nova Scotia that spring, though, Dad, the author of
Whatsgottabesaid, didn't have a lot of time for blogging.
This was what caused him to ask me if I'd be interested in writing a guest post for him.
Well, 11-year-old me had no idea how to write a blog post (or what that really meant) but I was more than willing to try. With Dad's guidance, Mom's brilliant editing skills and Travis' sort-of-helpful input, "Ask Questions" was written and published.
Over seven years later, that post makes me smile. It's funny how a simple bit of pre-teen writing could launch me on a life-long path.
As Dad was still pretty busy during this transitioning stage of our life, moving from seminary back to a pastorate, I filled in for him with a few more posts on Whatsgottabesaid. And I loved it. I loved it so much that, by the time we had settled in Nova Scotia, it was clear to us that this wasn't just some phase I was going through. I wanted to blog full-time. And so we set up my very own blog.
On July 10, 2009, shortly before I turned 12, Jaquelle's
Rose Garden was born. The Garden was my home for four years. But in September 2013 I made the jump from blog to
website and set up jaquelle.ca.

(2 Peter 3:18)
