4 Botanical Blessings-Part 1: A Tree Planted by Streams of Water

Hello readers. Today I want to start another series about 4 different plants in the Bible, their stories, and how we can apply them to our lives. To begin, we will look at Psalm 1, a tree planted by streams of water. Specifically verse 3.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.- Psalm 1:3

First let's look at who the 'he' is. 'He' is a righteous person. The righteous person is like a plant that prospers. It's a plant that has strength and beauty. It's like a plant that is firmly planted by streams of water. That's what I want to be like. But, we can't ignore verse 4. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Dictionary.com says that chaff is "the husks of grains and grasses that are separated during threshing." Chaff is so light that it can easily be swept away by the wind. I definitely don't want to be like that. I want to be a tree planted firmly be streams of water that yields delicious, beautiful fruit in its season, and its leaf never withers. In all I do, I want to prosper. How about you?
