4 Great Hymns and Their Stories-Part 3: In Christ Alone

Welcome, readers, back to my series on 4 hymns and their story. Yesterday I sang a solo at my church. It was 'In Christ Alone.' It is a very long song, so below, I just put my favourite verse-4.

In Christ Alone-Verse 4
No guilt in life, no fear in death. This is the power of Christ in me. From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of Hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from His hand. 'Till He returns or calls me home. Here in the power of Christ I stand.

This is my favourite verse because it tells of the end of the story. If you want to read all of the lyrics to the song, click here. The first verse was about Christ's love for us. The second verse tells us of His death, and the third tells of His resurrection. The fourth, though, tells of the end. The battle is won! Christ has finished it all! We can live! Nothing can ever take us from His hand! This is true only for Christians. Christianity is not some exclusive club, though! Christ died for all people, but only some choose to accept and believe in Him. If you don't accept and believe in Him, than you were never in His hand. He still controls your destiny, but you won't be able to live forever in paradise! You won't be in His hand forever, as He lovingly calls you His child! It's up to you to make this choice. If He wanted to, God could have made everyone His every-word-obeying slaves. He didn't, though. He let us make the decision to follow Him. If you don't choose to follow Him, though, then the powers of Hell and schemes of man will destroy you! But, if we love and obey Him, then we stand in the power of Christ! That's exciting, isn't it? This is a promise! This is one great hymn!
